Job Description:

Nomios GmbH is seeking a talented and experienced Network Engineer with a strong focus on Security Firewalls. As a Network Engineer with a Security Firewall focus, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust firewall solutions for our esteemed clients. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with FortiGate and Juniper SRX firewalls, along with knowledge of other firewall vendors and corresponding entry-level certifications.

Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage security firewall solutions based on FortiGate and Juniper SRX firewalls to protect clients' networks and data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand client requirements and develop tailored firewall architectures.
• Configure and maintain firewall policies, rules, and access controls to enforce network security best practices.
• Monitor firewall logs and security events to proactively identify and mitigate potential security threats.
• Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure the network's integrity and compliance.
• Work closely with the IT Security team to implement security measures and respond to security incidents effectively.
• Troubleshoot complex firewall-related issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams regarding firewall configurations and best practices.
• Stay up to date with the latest security trends and technologies to enhance network security capabilities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer, with a strong focus on security firewalls.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing FortiGate and Juniper SRX firewalls is required.
• Entry-level certifications from other firewall vendors such as Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA) or Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) are a plus.
• Thorough understanding of network security principles, firewall policies, and access controls.
• Familiarity with VPN technologies, including IPsec and SSL VPN.
• Knowledge of network protocols and security standards, such as TCP/IP, VPN, IPSec, SSL, and AAA.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot firewall-related issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced certifications in network security or relevant firewall technologies (e.g., Fortinet NSE, Juniper JNCIS-SEC, etc.).
• Experience with other firewall vendors, such as Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, or Cisco ASA.

• Familiarity with network segmentation and micro-segmentation strategies.

Job Specifics

• This role is based at our Dortmund office, with flexibility for homeworking for up to 2-3 days per week if needed.
• Flexibility with hours is required in the event of a major incident; the role will also include on-call responsibilities for occasional weekends.
• Some travel should be expected, including overnight stays in DE and occasionally abroad when necessary.
