Jr. Network Engineer (Managed Services)

As a Junior Managed Services Engineer, the primary focus is on learning and assisting with the management of network or security infrastructures. Under the guidance of senior team members, the Junior Managed Services Engineer will learn networking and security concepts, apply that knowledge in practice by monitoring networks, opening tickets and learn how to resolve issues. As the Junior Managed Services Engineer grows in his knowledge and skills he will execute more management tasks and best practices according to ITIL.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to an Engineering Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Support:

• Support management tasks execution by assisting senior team members.
• Create support tickets, analyze and resolve issues with the help of senior team members.

Learning and Assistance:

• Assist in implementing and maintaining network or security infrastructure.
• Learn networking/security concepts, protocols, and technologies.

Knowledge Development:

• Continuously learn and expand knowledge of networking/security principles and technologies.
• Participate in training programs and self-study to enhance skills.

Documentation:

• Continuously update customer network/security documentation for configurations, procedures, and management best practices.
• Contribute to the knowledge base for future reference.

Team Collaboration:

• Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and experiences.
• Seek guidance and mentorship from senior engineers to accelerate learning.

Skills:

• Basic understanding of networking/security protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, SSH, IPSec).
• Good understanding of networking/security concepts (switching, routing, gateways).
• Experience with Ticketing systems (SalesForce, Jira, Topdesk, Remedy, Service Now).

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred but not required)

• Certifications (preferred or willingness to achieve) :

• Cisco/Juniper Certified Network Associate
• Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate (formerly CCNA Cyber Ops).
